Using vegetable waste oils which have kept waiting and frying them many times can cause it to become carcinogen. It harms the heart and vascular system of the body while also causing diseases such as stomach and colon cancer. These used oils, causes other waste to cling to the pipe of the sinks, sewage systems and it causes the pipes to become narrow over time. Waste oils, which cause blockages and overflows in the sewage system, increase the waste load coming into the wastewater treatment system, increasing maintenance and operating costs.
1 liter of waste oil can pollute 1.000.000 of drinking water. Waste oils with toxic properties pollute water sources when mixed with underground waters. It is highly expensive and difficult to clean underground water. The underground water sources are the drinking water sources of the future for every country.
Since the density of waste oils reaching water sources such as streams, lakes and rivers is lower than water, it forms a layer on the water. Because of this waste oil layer on the water, the water cannot recieve oxygen from air. This circumstance endangers the underwater creatures’ life.
Dumping waste oils into garbage is also not a solution. Those waste oils dumped into garbage causes fires in garbage storage areas.
The increasing population and industrialization also lead to an increase in the amount of waste. Recycling is an inevitable solution so as to reduce its negative impacts on environment and people.
